Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception

Fortune hunter Nathan Drake is catapulted headlong into an adventure that takes him on a daring trek into the heart of the Arabian Desert in a search for the fabled "Atlantis of the Sands." This journey pits him and his mentor Victor Sullivan against the occult treachery of a shadowy clandestine organization and its ruthless leader. When the terrible secrets of this lost city are unearthed, Drake's quest descends into a desperate bid for survival that strains the limits of his endurance and forces him to confront his deepest fears.

A couple of years ago, in the summer before the release of the secondAssassin's Creed I found myself discussing the many things that were wrong about the flawed first game in the series.
Once in August and then again in September, senior people on Assassin's Creed II walked me through some of the many fixes they had planned for the sequel. Their plans sounded too good to be true, because, well, they all sounded so right. They didn't sound like hype or the marching orders of a focus group. They felt like surgically precise self-critiques. Sure enough, Assassin's Creed II was far superior to its predecessor. The game's creators had learned from their errors and crafted something great.
Last week, I had a flashback to those summer interviews while I was interviewing one of the lead creators of Uncharted 3. These folks also seem to know, better than I would, what needed fixing.
The previous two PlayStation 3 adventures of Nathan Drake, video game's modern Indiana Jones, were not as flawed as that first Assassin's Creed game. There were some problems, though. There were also, I learned, during an E3 chat with Uncharted 3's co-lead designer Jacob Minkoff, some opportunities that the series creators at Naughty Dog were not yet ready to seize.
First, there's Nathan Drake himself. He's been presented to us gamers as an everyman. We will learn much more about him in this new game. We'll find out what drives him, Minkoff told me. We'll learn more about his relationship with Sully and more about his past. We may also get a Nathan Drake who finally feels like a more consistent character. Players of the earlier games noticed that Drake seemed like an approachable, ordinary guy in the games' cinematic scenes but more like an action-hero/mass-murderer in the game's gameplay. Naughty Dog noticed that (even noted that in the finale of the last game).
"As it is, Drake never shoots first," Minkoff told me, conveying the ideal of the character if not the manner in which Naughty Dog has always portrayed him. Drake shouldn't go into a scene ready to shoot before being shot at, Minkoff explained, though the game creator acknowledged that, in the past, Drake sometimes was firing at factions of people (enemies), who hadn't shot at him at all—at least not in a while. That's not Drake and that sounds like we'll be getting more of the "real" Drake in the new game.
A shift in the portrayal of Drake sounds subtle, but more obvious will be a shift in the game's flow. Minkoff said that players of the second game complained that there there was too much combat near the end, especially in the monastery section. Minkoff said the problem was that the developers had created more gameplay than story and ran out of narrative material to intersperse with the interactive parts of their game. He promises a better balance in the new one, which, if it translates to a removal of some of Uncharted 2's late-game lapses into tedium, all the better.
The demo of Uncharted 3 that was shown behind closed doors at E3 was devoid of tedium, of course. There's no way to say if it represents the whole game, but the scene, set near an airfield, smoothly transitioned from Drake and series regular Elena discussing a plan to get on a huge cargo plane, to Drake splitting off to run across some roofs and tackle bad guys as the plane's engines heated up, then to Drake running on the tarmac to catch the plane, Elena driving up and letting Drake jump from the roof of her jeep to the plane's landing gear, some sneaking through the plane, a fistfight in its cargo bay and, at demo's end, our hero dangling from cargo that was falling from the plane.
As the Assassin's Creed developers had done, Minkoff surprised me with the nuance of some of the planned evolutions of the series. He noted that the puzzles of the previous game involved "too much transposition," a critique I initially didn't understand. He reminded me that the player solved many of the puzzles inUncharted 2 simply by looking in Drake's notebook for a specific arrangement of symbols and then lining up similarly-marked symbols in the temples Drake was exploring. Too easy, Minkoff thought. "We want the player to feel that they have to figure something out," he said. If you're going to play the role of a clever treasure-hunter, he's saying, you might as well have to think like one.
As we've previously reported, some ofUncharted 3's upgrades will be technical. In this game, Drake will be able to climb on top of objects that are affected by the game's physics. The translation, in the context of a demo involving a large ship that was shown at E3, is that Drake might be left hanging from the side of a lifeboat that is suspended from the side of a ship rocked by a stormy sea. One of the ropes suspending the lifeboat might snap, knocking Drake down, but as the waves buffet the ship's hull—and as the lifeboat sways from its rope— Drake, controlled by the player, can still climb up. (Those waves, Minkoff proudly told me, will be procedurally-generated 90-meter swells that will be subject to the game's physics simulation and will continue to buffet the boat during the consequentially unpredictable gunfights and fistfights that Drake has below decks.)
Minkoff never hit a false note as we chatted about this fall's Uncharted 3 for about 15 minutes. Each correction or upgrade he described for the series sounded like smart progress. Whether it adds up to the series' best game remains to be seen, but I do get the sense it'll add up to at least one thing: a terrific in-game bar brawl. While Minkoff didn't want to confirm if or when a bar brawl will occur in the third game, he said that so many of the physics and animation systems that Naughty Dog has built into the series has led the Uncharted creators into a position where they can render a proper saloon brawl: they've got the ability to get Drake pushed back against the bar, to have him pick a bottle off the bar and smash it on another guy's head, throw someone through a table and so on.
The question for Uncharted 3 may not be whether there will be a bar brawl but rather, when there is one, is Drake the kind of guy who would punch first?
Look for Uncharted 3 on the PS3 on November 1.

PS4? Concepts and ideas

Your Ad Here

While the PlayStation 3 is just now hitting its stride, and has its best days still ahead of it, Sony is not one to rest on its laurels, and with the intense competition in the video game world at present, plans for the PlayStation 4's future release are already being put into motion. In fact not only is the PlayStation 4 getting this treatment, but even the PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 6 are in the early stages of planning and conceptualization at Sony's R&D labs.
Although we've yet to see what the PS3 can fully do when really put through its paces (in fact Sony states that games currently on the market are not even close to pushing the system to its full potential), the thought of an even more powerful console looming on the horizon has gamers worried about the holes it will leave burning in their pockets, but giddy at the possibilities of what this new behemoth of a console will be able to pull off. Just imagine the hardware on this thing, it will be insane!
The Question Everyone Wants the Answer To...
As a result, the question on everyone's mind is, when will the PlayStation 4 see the light of day?!?!? While Sony has not released any official information concerning the system's future launch, the generally accepted release date is pegged as late 2012, which would follow the trend of Sony's previous console generations. The PlayStation 1 was first released in late 1994 in Japan and 1995 throughout the rest of the world. The PlayStation 2 hit stores in 2000, giving the PS1 a retail shelf life of 6 years from its Japanese launch. Likewise, the PlayStation 3 came out in 2006, 6 years after the release of the PS2. Following this trend that Sony has established would give us a late 2012 release for the PS4.
Other rumours have also circulated of late which backs up these claims. At last year's Game Developer's Conference in Germany, the CEO of Crytek announced that his company's development of their next-generation graphics engine, the CryEngine3, will release in 2012, around the same time as the PlayStation 4. Although he stated he had no concrete information that the PS4 would be released around this time, and that even if he did, he would not be at liberty to share that information, he expected this to be the release window of the new system.
The Business of Sales (Or How to Get a PS4 Sooner by Not Buying a PS3)
It's possible that how the PlayStation 3 fares in the current console war may also determine the release date of the PS4, for a couple of reasons. If the system continues to flounder in 3rd place in the console wars, failing to generate the revenue which was initially expected of it, Sony may be far more eager to cut their losses and rush the PS4 to market sooner rather than later, possibly as early as late 2011.
If the PS3 does indeed fail to make ground on the Wii and Xbox 360, it may also convince Sony to try and jump the gun on the next generation console wars and get their system out the door first. Both the PlayStation 1 and PlayStation 2, which dominated their generations of the console wars, came to market at the same time or earlier than their competition. The PlayStation 1 was launched just after the Sega Saturn, and well before the Nintendo 64, while the PlayStation 2 was released before both the Xbox and Nintendo Gamecube.
This enabled Sony to get a head start on the competition and gave developers time to build their skills at developing games for the console, to the point that even as more powerful consoles came after, games released on the older system were just as good technically, providing no real incentive for players to move to the new consoles.
This same effect has worked against the PlayStation 3 to some extent, as though considered to be far more powerful than the Xbox 360, the one year head start the 360 received has allowed developers to more quickly maximize the system's potential, resulting in games that rivaled games on the PS3 when it released. Only as the system's life spans come to an end will we likely see the PlayStation 3 come out with games that clearly trump what the 360 can do graphically.
How Sony plans to play their hand is cause for much speculation. What we do know is that the PlayStation 4 is coming sooner than we may think, and it will take gaming to a whole new level.
Update - July 2009 - In a recent interview, Doom and Quake creator John Carmack speculated that Sony will likely attempt to be first to the dance floor with their new console, before Microsoft launches their next console. As talked about above, there is plenty of rationale in this line of thinking. On the other hand, Sony has long maintained they have a long-term plan for the PS3, and with the lower production costs of the new slim model PS3, and the increased sales of the new version, the PS3 may just be coming into its own. Whether Sony will try to launch before Microsoft (by all accounts Nintendo will actually launch first, but they're not considered direct competition to the others like Sony and Microsoft are to each other) remains to be seen. Let us know what you think.
Update - June 2010 - In an interview with Gamespot at this year's E3, Activision COO Thomas Tippl shed some up-to-date, though still quite vague light, on the PS4's future release. When asked when he expected the next generation consoles to release, Tippl stated that it was unlikely they would see release within the next 2-3 years, as Activision still had no information on any new consoles. With development times for next gen games running 2-3 years on average, it makes sense that if the new consoles will come with third party games at launch (a near certainty), it will be at least 2 years from the time third parties first get the development toolkits in their hands to the point where the console releases. In the meantime all we can do is speculate and continue to wait.
Update - May 2011 - According to a recent article in Eurogamer, Sony has confirmed they're directing finances to an undisclosed research and development project for a "Future Platform". In the build up to E3, rumors about Project Cafe suggest Nintendo will announce the Wii-2 and developers have reported receiving prototype development tools for a new Microsoft product. Everyone is expecting an Xbox720 and Wii-2 announcement, we can hope that Sony has something as big to announce.
A quote from Sony's chief Financial Manager
Kato stated "For the home equipment the PS3 still has a product life, but this is a platform business, so for the future platform - when we'll be introducing what product I cannot discuss that - but our development work is already under way, so the costs are incurred there."
Update - E3 2011
Gamers eagerly awaiting a Playstation 4 announcement were disappointed when SCEE boss Andrew House released a statement in an interview with Eurogamer
"From a Sony perspective, we're very comfortable with PS3 and the way that market's developing,"
Although they made it clear they have no intention of a Playstation 4 related announcement anytime soon they did show off their new 3D capability as well as the NGP/PSP2 now officially named Playstation Vita. They've waited 7 years after the release of the PSP to announce their next generation handheld, we could be waiting a similar length of time for an official Playstation 4 announcement.

Gears Of War 3!!

I am very excited about the new gears of war. I have played the demo and I had an awesome time playing it. Although some weapons may seem a little bit overpower at times like the Retro Lancer and the sawed off you quickly learn how to counter these guns by using range or wall bouncing

The Retro Lancer
I really like the sawed off but in general the gnasher takes more skill to use and if used properly can cause a lot more damage than the sawed off since the sawed off only has 4 bullets. The sawed off shot gun has a much bigger cross hair ( almost your entiire screen) and it can kill multiple people at one time. (The most have gotten is 4 with one shot)
The Sawed Off shotgun

The Gnasher Shotgun

The graphics in the beta of gow3 look amazing and realistic. Overall the maps are made well and balanced. I got bored within two weeks probably because there was only 4 maps to play on. hopefully when the full game comes out there will be much more maps.

Overall GOW3 is going to be amazing and is a must buy for me.

New Games Coming Out for Xbox 360

I have heard of some games and I cant wait!! I was curious to see what games are coming out soon and i found 5 that really interest me. I hope you enjoy my blog please comment!
They are:
  1. Velvet Assassin which comes out April 28, 2009
  2. X-men Origins: Wolverine coming out may 1, 2009
  3. prototype coming out June 9, 2009
  4. Guitar Hero Smash Hits coming out June 16, 2009
  5. Bio Shock 2 which is coming out Q3 2009

I like Velvet Assassin because it it a game when you you have to use stealth to kill your enemies. The graphics look amazing and you don't keep doing similar things over and over like in assassin's creed. There are guns and weapons in the game too.

From what i have seen and read so far you are an assassin named Violette and you are going behind enemy lines to destroy a German war machine.

The plot is that she was born in Devon England. She was working in a salon but when the war began she moves to to London and joins the weapon industry. Soon she was noticed by the secret services. She is recruited into MI6. Violette had lost an aunt during one of the first Luftwaffe bombing attacks. She later lost her husband in battle. However, Violette was strong willed and used these painful experiences to inspire her to succeed as a spy for the MI6. Violette managed to carry out several missions successfully before being captured by the Germans. Dying in hospital, Violette relives key moments in a series of flashbacks. That's why a bulk of game play will take place during these flashbacks.

From what i have seen and read there is no multiplayer:(
Cool video:

X-men Origins- Wolverine
The game is basically based on the movie. So if you want to know the storyline just watch the movie :D

The characters in the game are:

Wolverine (obviously)

Wendigo

Blob

Sabertooth

Gambit

Agent Zero

Deadpool

Sentinels

William Stryker

Wraith

A cool Video Showing game play:

Now i am going to talk about :

About The Character
Alex Mercer woke up on a morgue slab seconds away from being dissected by two strange scientists. After killing the doctors, he escapes. As he escapes, he discovers that he has no memory of what has happened to him. He then discovers his powers, and seeks out for whoever, or whatever did this to him. It has been lately discovered that before becoming a biological weapon, Alex Mercer was a scientist for "Gentek", a medicinal company. He is 29 years old, weighs about 190 lbs. (most of the time - he can change his weight willingly) and is about 5'10.

His Powers
Alex can jump extremely high, run extremely fast and support incredible weights. He is able to track anyone, either by using his consuming or sensory powers. Alex has the ability to absorb anyone, He can control his mass, transforming himself into an arsenal of deadly weapons, like a five foot long blade-arm which releases a quarry of swift attacks, being able to cut steel and chop flesh, two pairs of razor sharp claws, which can be charged up for a "ground spike" attack, in which Alex can send his biomass tunneling underground and spray out into deadly spikes, and a spiky bio-whip that can stretch up to 20 feet. He can also make his forearms become as hard as steel. He can transform into anyone and access restricted areas if he is a soldier and also do things like call in an air strike( only if a soldier).

To me this game looks amazing so far, i cant wait until it comes out :D

This single attacker, who is the Big Sister, one of the Little Sisters from the first entry in the series, has mechanized herself in a similar fashion to the Big Daddies — and has become the ruler of the underwater city of Rapture, which under her control has reached an equilibrium in which she "actively maintains the city's infrastructure, and viciously hunts anyone down who disrupts the balance of power".

Well that's all for now please comment
